Description

These teachings come from rare and precious Dzogchen texts, including The Excellent Chariot: A Vehicle for the Path to Liberation. Written by Ngeton Tenzin Zangpo, the 3rd Dzogchen Rinpoche, this text is a commentary on the Khandro Nyingtig, “The Heart Essence of the Dakinis”, a concentration of the Dzogchen teachings of Padmasambhava and Yeshe Tsogyal. Rinpoche’s talks also are based on the Vima Nyingtig from Vimalamitra as well as Longchenpa’s instructions or commentary on the Khandro Nyingtig and Vima Nyingtig. Rinpoche’s 2006 Sangha Retreat teachings presented the preliminary and special preliminary practices in the practice tradition of Dzogchen Monastery. Rinpoche’s 2007 Sangha Retreat teachings begin with brief reviews of the preliminary and special preliminary practices taught in 2006, including an explanation of Alaya from a Dzogchen perspective. Rinpoche then taught the meaning and sources of the Nyingtig teachings including a short biography of Guru Rinpoche explaining his eight manifestations. Rinpoche then provided in-depth instruction and guided meditation on two additional special preliminary practices, resting naturally and revitalization. In these talks, Rinpoche also discussed Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche’s teaching on Abiding, Movement and Awareness, and talked about devotion and relying on a spiritual friend. The first step of the Dzogchen practice of Break Through is Understanding the True Nature. This has three stages, investigating conceptual mind, seeking out hidden flaws and examining origin, presence and departure. In the last two talks in this set Rinpoche taught the three stages of Understanding the Nature. Translation was provided by Cortland Dahl and Tyler Dewar. Restricted teaching: Viewing these DVDs is restricted to students who attended the 2007 Nalandabodhi Sangha Retreat, or by permission of The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche.

The talks on these DVDs are Part One of Rinpoche’s 2007 Sangha Retreat talks. Part Two includes the last half of talk seven and the remaining six talks. In those talks Rinpoche presented the Introduction to Rigpa, which is the second step in the practice of Break Through. Rinpoche is not releasing for sale, viewing or listening any recordings of Part Two because those talks included extensive pointing-out instructions.
