In this delightful weekend teaching based on Chris Stagg’s new translation of The Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa, Chris began by telling the life story of Milarepa together with related points and songs. The book is primarily about Milarepa’s interactions with his many students. These stories provide a helpful context for understanding Milarepa’s songs of realization. The songs themselves are spontaneous teachings. The stories and songs Chris shared during the weekend related primarily to two of Milarepa’s female students, Rechungma and Sahle Ö, and one male student, Shakya Guna. Chris also taught about the yogic tradition as well as how the songs and stories of Milarepa relate to our lives today. Audio downloads of three sessions. Includes PDF's of notes and songs.
Please note: Although Chris taught from his new translation of The Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa, the singing of the songs during the weekend was based on the versions of the songs in Songs of Realization as Taught and Sung by Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche. It is very helpful to have this book available in order to sing along with Chris and the sangha in the video. This book is available to Nalandabodhi members at the Nalanda Store website. The words to a few additional songs which were sung are provided in a handout that accompanies this DVD set.
