Aspiration is a powerful and essential prerequisite to any beneficial action. Although an aspiration is simply a wish that something will happen, unless we first develop an intention or aspiration, nothing will ever happen. In this teaching, Thrangu Rinpoche shows how pure prayers and aspirations require appropriate conditions in order to be effective. Aspirations accompanied by the condition of a benevolent attitude of love and compassion can relieve suffering and bring happiness. In order to accomplish this result, however, we must also cultivate a pure aspiration that beings develop the causes of happiness and be free from the causes of suffering.
