Description
The Assembly Dharmas are transcripts of talks on the essential meaning of dharma given by Gampopa to his assembled students. These transcripts were carefully made by Gampopa’s nephew. Each assembly talk in this set is about 30 minutes long and presents a concise and accessible teaching on a complete path of dharma practice. Hearing these transcripts read and commented on my Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche and translated by Lama Yeshe Gyamtso conveys a genuine sense of what it must have been like to attend these teachings back in the twelfth century. Gampopa presents his unique perspective on a variety of dharma topics including impermanence, relative and absolute truth, appropriate view and conduct for dharma teachers, and three aspects of Mahayana practice (yoga of mantra, yoga of stuff and yoga of dharma). The intimacy and the casual yet direct style of Gampopa’s teaching comes through clearly. Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche gave five talks on the Assembly Dharmas at the Harford KTC in 2005 and five more in 2006. Here all ten of his talks are collected on six DVDs. The Assembly Dharmas contain twenty of Gampopa’s talks, and Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche covers approximately two of Gampopa’s talks in each of his talks. These recordings are recorded in a "Mainly English" format. These recordings have chapter points.
