Mahamudra: Eliminating the Darkness of Ignorance by the Ninth Karmapa presents complete teachings on mahamudra. Thrangu Rinpoche gives profound teachings starting with preliminaries, including the four extraordinary preliminaries specific to mahamudra practice. Rinpoche then teaches mahamudra tranquility practices (resting on sense objects and unsupported meditation) and  mahamudra vipashyana practices (looking at and recognizing the mind at rest, the mind in motion, appearances and mind, and comparing resting and moving mind). Translated by David Karma Choephel. 14 talks. These CDs provide a "Mainly English" recording of this teaching.

  • Because Thrangu Rinpoche often speaks for long periods of time in Tibetan when he teaches, his long monologues have been curtailed on CD recordings (audio) to preserve the continuity of the teaching and make listening easier. Thus the voice heard for the majority of the time is that of the translator. DVD video recordings include all of Rinpoche’s Tibetan. However, because there are no DVD recordings of Creation and Completion, the complete unedited recordings of that teaching currently exist only in the Vajra Echoes archives.
