In these talks, given on May 17 and 18, 2008 at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom and the Waldorf-Astoria Ballroom, the Karmapa discusses topics relevant to our every day lives. With humor and insight, he describes how we can apply the principles of gaining enlightenment to our present day existence. Karmapa helps us to understand how to handle the discomfort of not getting what we want, and makes the point that the use of humor enriches our approach to life's ups and downs. By these and other means, His Holiness helps us learn to use dharma to fully empower, develop and engage our positive mental tendencies. The Hammerstein Ballroom teaching was introduced by a musical offering by Lou Reed, of two songs: "Power of the Heart" and "Perfect Day".
